Grants Available For Solar Hot Water Systems
Grants for solar hot water systems to residential customers are available through the Low Carbon Building Program (LCBP). The LCBP is broken down into two phases. Phase 1 offers grants to domestic homeowners. This program is administered by the Energy Saving Trust (EST). The EST is the body you have to deal with to receive your grant. The Solar Electric Power Company can provide you with all necessary support throughout this process, but the application must be completed by the end user.
For solar hot water systems, residential customers can receive an overall maximum of £400, or 30% of the relevant eligible costs, whichever is the lower.

The Energy Saving Trust is also administrating a government launched scheme to provide a grant of £400 to residential customers replacing inefficient boilers with new A-rated ones. The scheme is open to people just wishing to replace their boilers, but if done whilst also installing renewable energy technology such as a solar hot water system you could save up to £800 off the total cost. In addition to the above national schemes there are many funding schemes for renewable technologies available locally through councils and planning authorities. For more information and advice on this we would advise you to contact your local council.
